Things are coming together for me to compete in the SCCA's semi-professional F1600 Championship Series this year and I want to run a YouTube channel to document my season and share my experiences. I'm planning on uploading each race using a format similar to this guy:
Except I'd do commentary after the race instead of during. Right now we're converting the car to use an unmodified Honda Fit engine and I've been documenting that with a time lapse. I'd like to do a vlog each race weekend, showing everyone some "behind-the-scenes" type stuff too. But beyond that I'm not sure what to do. My goal is to upload a video every week once things are up and running, but I don't really know what would interest people. There's one race meeting a month, and if I can afford it I'll try to do a race or two in Canada but that's still a lot of space to fill. I'd like to reach beyond the racing fans and appeal to the general automotive and sport enthusiast as well.
So if you guys have any ideas let me know. Is there anything you've ever seen regarding junior formula racing that made you think 'I wonder how they do that' or 'I wonder what that's like?'
(Bonus picture of my car when I ran it in the UK! I'm planning on using the same livery.)

Cats. There's not enough videos of cats on the internet.

That sounds like a pretty cool channel I would subscribe to. I love watching car vlogs and time lapses of builds.
I would like to see:
What is going on through your mind as you are driving. Like whether you are contemplating the racing line or going off it to find an advantage and why.
Some insights from the mechanics and designers about the car.
What happens after the race is over like packing up the parts and tools.
What happens before the race like setting up the car and tools.

CRASHES, FIRE!!!!
no, I would ACTUALLY like to see drivers POV if possible while commentarying.

Good pov angle like drivers eye. Commentary detailing driving inputs and mind process.

That's the kind of thing I never think anybody would be interested in. Thanks for the input!

I bought a pair of Pivothead sunglasses, so I'll be able to get angles like this:
I can't wait to get a video of racing in the rain. I don't think people have much of an idea of how poor vision is when following another car, you can't even see your own hands. Even on-board cameras don't do it justice.

Well there might be some truth to your assessment. The majority of people out there like to just watch racing as a sport with the drivers being the stars. I just personally like to learn and see more than what goes on during the race since there's just so much else that's happening. The unsung heroes almost. Don't get me wrong, I love watching racing and driver skill but I also love learning about what happens off track like design and engineering.
Then again, I am a bit of an oddball since I quite like the rules and restrictions in Formula 1. I think they force engineers and designers to find creative and new ways of approaching a problem all while trying to bend the rules of legality to their pursuit of what was not allowed.

My plan is to do the typical beside the driver's head POV be the main camera for the race footage but I also bought some sunglasses with a camera embedded like I mentioned in my reply to JDIGGS so I'll occasionally work that one in, and maybe do other shorter videos using that POV entirely.
Maybe if I get used to wearing sunglasses in my helmet I'll turn it into my main pov for the race videos.

The rain is so much fun. Not only can you not see, but I don't believe anyone understand just how damn slippery the track is and how out of the shape the car is most of the time.
