Does anyone else appreciate these 1st Gen Pilots? My mom got one brand new in 2002 back when i was 11 and its been a great car nearly 200k miles later.
My mother was recently struck from behind by a Hyundai that was reportedly doing 60 and the truck took it like a champ. Only the rear bumper needed replacement since the Elantra went underneath. My mother drove the car back home from Atlanta. Shes supposedly getting rid of it soon and im really wanting to get my hands on this thing. Itll be very useful for these Ohio winters.

These things are built like tanks. They hold up amazingly well in crashes. I saw the aftermath of head on collision with a first gen Pilot and a mid-90s Tacoma (both were going 45-50). The Tacoma folded in half and basically crumbled and the Pilot's doors still opened and closed normally. They latched and everything.

Much better build quality than the 2nd iteration. Excited to see the 2016 version that will debut tomorrow in Chicago. Hopefully it isn't ugly like the MDX.

I'm DD'ing one right now ('05) and it's nice. Seat and back heaters, VTM4-lock, and I've got an iPod interface so I can listen to Pandora or other music through my phone.

True. But nothing of that age did well in the small overlap except for the Volvo XC-90.

We have a 2002 (one of the first in the US, if not the first!) and it's been nothing but solid. Except for the door locks! All have gone out at one points, so my dad had to take each door apart and replace the locking motor.
It shuttled me around as a kid, conquered numerous road trips, and drove me all the way up to college with all my stuff, my sister's stuff, and 4 of us packed in like sardines and didn't skip a beat. Now that I have a designated parking spot, I kinda want to drive it up and use it as my car here.

Mom has an 07 and I love the thing. 2WD EX with 83,000 miles on it. So solid! We hit a deer at like 35 MPH and only damaged a bumper and headlight. Its way quicker than you'd expect an SUV to be. No blind spots at all. I get to drive it all week and don't mind at all.
