That's kinda quick, actually.

No, I don't mean that. What I mean to say is that you can buy an Accord that's only 0.4 seconds slower to 60. To justify a $60,000+ sedan marketed for performance, it needs to be faster.

Didn't an Acura exec once say they made big mistakes with Acura? Well, any day now...

Right now, Acura and Lincoln are best dying buds.

I did kinda see Lincoln being America's Acura.

The difference is that Acura is dying because the market is shifting away from FWD compact luxury coupes and the hondas they're based on are getting shittier. I look at Acura as a sort of one-hit-wonder that does one thing right, and that thing has become less and less relevant in the last 15 years.

Lincoln is dying because they're churning out overpriced cars based on decent fords, and moving away from where the market is spending its money (brand-influenced CUVs and full sized sports/luxury sedans) and face brand cannibalization.

Except they aren't dying. They've been making almost year-over-year gains in volume since the 2009 carpocalypse, and will probably reach their previous high of 200k cars/year in a few more years. They're only a few thousand cars behind Cadillac and have completely surpassed rival Japanese luxury nameplate Infiniti, who seems to be stumbling.

Acura might compare to Lincoln well in terms of product portfolio, but not in terms of sales. Lincoln wishes it had Acura's volume. Though they are still doing poorly as a luxury brand, it's worth noting that Lincoln's market share actually went up by 15% relative to 2013-2014. We don't care about these cars, but some folks out there are still buying them.

Want to fix Acura? Turn all engines 90 degrees, give all models a driveshaft. None of this 10% Sorta-Halfass "AWD" stuff.

Go a step beyond Subaru and start putting the all wheel steering everywhere, billing it as a safety mechanism in the higher models and a performance feature in the lower ones.

I miss the old TL's 3.7 V6/SH-AWD/6-speed manual zaniness. If I had more money it would've been nice to shop for one.

If Acura had just a hint more marketing for the combination of sportiness and luxury, then maybe they'd be doing better? Idk. I just know they look less like a japanese BMW now and more like old buick. But it could be worse - they could be infiniti.
