When I shop for those in 2010, they weren't worth 20k, has them really appreciated that much?

When the words "serious buyers only" appear in the copy, you can be sure it's CP. I don't know what these are worth, but it can't be more than the sticker, which I think was high 30s, low 40s, when new.

Are you sure you're thinking of the R32 and not just the R? This one is 4WD and has 450Hp.
EDIT: For some reason I thought this had way more power than it actually does.

What would you pay if you were in the market?

Generally speaking, they're in the $16k range, give or take a few grand.

Something is amiss here. that engine bay does not look like those 16k have been easy ones. whats with the scratches on the intake? Also who wouldn't do a basic detailing in there when asking 50 fucking grand for a golf?

CP. should be closer to $20k if it is mint.

Good ones are hard to find, appreciating, and worth 20k+, but this is the crackiest of pipes.

Its been lowered and who knows if those aftermarket wheels were the proper offset and didn't rub or need spacers. An un-molested example with that mileage would still probably have trouble getting more than $25,000. That's two times a crack pipe.

$17k at the most.

$55k for a car that isn't original? Seems like a bad deal.

It's worth significantly less with all the mods than it would be if it were bone stock, that's a fact.

I note two things: 1) it'a Michigan car; 2) it's a 10 year old car.

This guy wants you to pay for the mods AND a really rare unicorn. Unfortunately, the mods ruin it. This is another league entirely, but purely for example, it's like someone putting an SBC in an F40 and then wanting to sell it at a premium.

Holy mother of crack pipe. I wouldn't expect it to be anything over 20k.

I guess I don't know enough about R32.
Randomly pick a R32, still don't cost more than 20k. Is this not one of 5000 made?

Actually, I read the ad again, and this one is highly modified to make over 450Hp, so that's why this guy thinks it's worth this much. Some people don't understand that mods =\= more value

My immediate reaction was CP but I looked further. Obviously this online tool isn't 100% accurate to the market or specific car but it's a good starting point. So even with whatever this person has done to this car (or claims to), there is no way it's worth remotely close to what he's asking. Not to mention, it looks suspiciously worn for only having 16,000 miles.

If it were stock and perfect (and 5000 miles), maybe somewhat less than half that.

Yeah, 20k for something stock, garage stored, and had 5k on the clock, maybe. Maybe!

Ditto. It's like the other day I saw a S3 e92M3 wants 52k+.

And I pointed out elsewhere that it's a Michigan car. If California, you might get the price up a little.

I'm a believer in the Cali sale. My pickup is 35 years old and is spotless underneath thanks to that place.

What's the name of that island where Murilee ... something, used to take photos of old cars that were frozen in time? Started with an A ....

Ann Arbor? You should know better than that! Your state is the home of cars but its also the home of folks that don't take kindly to con artists. And this person attempting to sell a $55,000 Volkwagen Golf is doing some con.

My state is New York. And we don't like con artists very much either. Like Bernie Madoff. He's in prison for a loooong time.
