We've been burned quite a bit lately but hope is on the horizon in the form of Cities: Skylines.
I highly recommend keeping an eye on this game as this might be the Simcity 5 we've been waiting for plus it is made by Colossal Order who are the developers responsible for the utterly brilliant Cities in Motion games so it is in good hands.
Update: Due to weird cosmic forces beyond human comprehension a launch date reveal trailer was released literally minutes after this post went up. The game is out March 10th.

Looks like the city size is a lot bigger. Also had a chuckle when the ship went through the dam like it was nothing.

I kind of hope they leave that in and on the land sizes they have the perfect system. I hate running out of space but I hate having a bunch of empty space as much so the ability to purchase addition land is a brilliant system.
