Feels like I lost a Friend today. Just got a call about my SX4 and they claim it's a total loss.

Now where am I gonna find a new wagon with AWD and a Manual to replace my friend.

The new jeep renegade would be perfect but it's not out yet.

I bought my SX4 new in 2010, still loved it till the crash. So sad. Insurance still can't tell me how much they will give me, so I can't even start shopping.

Trashed the rear suspension completely? Trashed the rear drive? Bent the frame? I'm baffled that something that took place at the rear was able to total a five year old vehicle - front, I could absolutely understand, but the rear not so much.

You could always attempt to buy it back and fix it, but I wouldn't advise it.

Pick up a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly cheap beater until the Renegade comes out.

Edit: Then part out the beater. you might actually make money off it.

It's not too hard to tweak the rear enough that they'd need to chop it off and replace it to fix it.

I'm sorry for your loss. I like those little guys! I'm waiting to find a good low miles one in the 6k range to replace my Caddy as a DD.

Casualty of Suzuki leaving the market. They've retained no value. There was a 2010 sitting at a local dealer lot for about 6 months. 50k miles and advertised at 5500 bucks. Pretty easy to get to 2500ish in damage even with just cosmetic stuff.

This'd be a perfect candidate to buy back, fix up just the mechanical stuff, and keep around as a beater.

Suzuki resale values are generally very low, so it takes less damage to consider it totaled.

I could still see this getting the mechanical end fixed for $nothat.much

Whether it's doable with insurance and/or buying the car back, I don't know, but I don't see any *need* for Wacko to give it up unless every single bit under the back is trashed.

In all likelihood that car would be pretty easy to fix up and keep.

Guy I know spun out on the highway in his Scion tC (don't ask, I have no idea how he did it either). He lightly tapped the rear of his car against an overpass, just knocked the rubber exhaust hangers off and dislodged some of the plastic clips holding the rear fascia on. I drove his car home for him from the crash, and it tracked perfectly straight, no strange noises, steering wheel was bang on straight, and no other issues. Once we got to his place, I peeked under the rear of it and I told him I'm pretty sure they'd total it since the frame had a very slight crease just behind where the bumper mounts. Sure enough, totaled. Crumple zones are a blessing and a curse.

One of those things, if one is planning to keep the car until its death, in which it'd almost have been better not to get insurance involved.

i still don't understand, didn't get to talk to the claim guy.

but so far it looks like the rear drive is bent.

since suzuki is dead brand, value went low, really low. So repairs are worth more than the car.

still super sad. But I paid 25000$ canadian plus taxes in 2010. Me insurance was for new value, so I can get any where from 20000 to 35000. They have to look at today's market for a similar car. Only similar car is a bare bones impreza wagon with a stick.

Agreed, but it is nice to know if your car can still protect you in a crash.
