Watching the episode where the gang gets lost in a mall parking garage in New Jersey. I wasn't born till '94, so it's very odd seeing late 80's/early 90's cars looking so new. There's some weird kind of jalop things, too.
Take this delicious SVX, for example.
Oh, and there's a freaking syclone!
There's also this pair of ragtop Geo's
I just love this color for some reason...
I see you back there, Mr. red 'n gold
Of course the SL is double parked. I love it anyway, such a tasty color combination.
Pimpin' ain't easy. Dat sheep skin wheel cover tho
Blue plymouth laser, this is the exact car my girlfriend drives nope it's a C4 vette
Can someone identify the red thing? I kinda like it
MMMMM TWO TONE CRRXXX
I'm enjoying this way too much. This is way I miss big chunks of plot in movies that have a lot of scenes with cars in them. It's a disease, I can't stop!!

I feel like Geo sponsored this episode. Check out this screencap:

Oh yeah, I forgot, there's two of those too, and a yellow tracker
I sense product placement

If that parking lot isn't a set, I'm a giraffe.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:15 |

I'm fairly certain you're not giraffe.

And that asshole Kramer defiled it with his nasty AC box.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:16 |

I like how they got something kind of rare and interesting just for him to prat fall on.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:17 |

Yeah, now that you mentioned it, it appears there's a surprising amount of Geo's in that small parking garage.

NO FUCK YOU FOR RUINING MY DREAMS. I AM A GIRAFFE GORRDAMNIT.

I was just thinking the same thing! They sure didn't sell THAT well.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:18 |

I mean it is like 1992... but even so. They clearly got a dozen cars and moved them around for each shot. I'm pretty sure half of them were Geo's
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:19 |
|
They actually used mirrors to make the set look more like a proper garage. There are a few scenes where you can see some of the parked cars' reflection.

T-Top 2nd period C4 Corvette... Rounder angles so I'd say 1991 to 1996. It can't be a 1990 Zr-1 as it doesn't have a the third brake light.

Hey, good for you. A giraffe that can type? There MUST be a TV deal in that.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:21 |
|
Yup, I'm a giraffe that can type. It's quite nice actually.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:23 |

Shit, you're right. Quarter panel is too square.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:24 |

I think that they may have just gotten cars from Geo, Subaru, and Honda, as there were quite a few of each in that episode.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:25 |

I'm sure. You must be a hit on OK Cupid
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:26 |

Sure, why not.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:28 |
|
Yeah, I'd kind of recognize a C4 Corvette pretty much anywhere ;)
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:29 |
|
Yeah I'm sure there's some deals there somewhere. But I also saw some older stuff, and the occasional volvo.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:30 |

I can't imaaaaagine why that would be.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:34 |

I believe that's a 1990 Geo Prizm Base in Light Blue Pearl Metallic.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 20:35 |

Dat LTD though. If it's a 5 liter, it's a winner. Probably a V6 though.

Kramer had probably the most interesting car in the series. One of the 1,000 '73 Impalas built with an airbag.

It is, supposedly it was built on their normal soundstage, but required the apartment and Monk's sets to be dismantled to make room. It was really small, they just played around with the filming angles and moved cars around. Given the limitations, it actually worked pretty well.

Ebony Pearl was the only color to remain during the entire production run, making it more difficult to pinpoint a year. However, this episode originally aired in 1991, making this SVX a 1992.

That's pretty cool actually!

Oh the parking garage episode, I remember that. Aww my friend has an SVX, its nuts, I love it.

LA dealer must have brought them.

I've lusted after an SVX for a long time.

It's amazing how corrosive road salt is and how it completely transformed car landscapes every 5-10 years or so. Most of these cars are probably rusted out and in junkyards now. Unless you live in the Pacific Northwest, then they would be mint.

One episode has a drifting NSX.
![]() 02/08/2015 at 21:22 |

Was this episode sponsored by Geo? That's about as many Geos as you'd see in a week even when they were new.

Yupp, I DO see a lot of these on the road in Seattle :)
![]() 02/08/2015 at 21:34 |

Ooooh, I'm excited now. I'm finally getting around to watching the whole show, on season three.

when did they acquire that second wing half way up the hatch glass?
![]() 02/08/2015 at 23:59 |

another sign this show was set in ny but filmed in la? no parking lot in ny would have that many clean cars.

On second thought, it's a 1991 or 1992 base model based on on the body colored door frames.
