HALP. Ive got this urge to trade my somewhat tuned B6 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 6MT and go back to a G35 Coupe. Talk me out of it or something. My Audi has 112,000 miles on it and value can only go down.
I got the bug again after seeing some posts pop up on Jalopnik about 350z cars. I found this 2006 Coupe w/6MT as pictured below. I couldn't find a 350z that I liked (that wasnt an automatic)
I had my last G35 for roughly a year (pictured below). If that. The only thing wrong with her was the paint needed some detailing (spiderwebbing) and a war wound on the hood acquired from tropical storm debby. Damn old trees. I was totally fine with the poor gas mileage and tendancy to eat rear tires. That VQ35, fairly good handling and Infiniti's exhaust tuning was addictive.
When I moved to MN in 2013, some guy randomly offered cash for it and I stupidly sold it to him on the spot. Now, I see it around town occasionally and it appears he cut the springs (or something, it appears to ride like crap now) and the wheels were changed out to some black aftermarket fugly design.
First month of ownership:

Go for it, man. I had my 2007 Saab 9-3 that made prodigious torque (tuned) but when I saw the 2011 9-5, I dumped it immediately and got the 9-5. Never have been happier.

Not a giant fan of these. I liked them for a while, but sorta leaned towards them being two door Altimas that weren't actual Altima 2 doors.

Lose the Audi. It will cause you heart ache in the near future.
I had a friend with a black g35 6mt. Very nice.

Sounds like you've got an affinity for the car, why not?
FWIW the IROC-G wasn't ever a bad car, the IROC-G moniker is more a product of the average G35 owner, who appeared to buy your car off of you and cut the springs.

If you haven't done the front suspension in the Audi, say goodbye. Shame it's not white - that's a good color for that car.

I just replaced the turbo last year. The waste gate actuator failed and ironically not the turbocharger itself.
Its had its lifetime timing belt change (thanks to a tax return).
I think it needs new motor mounts now and definitely needs a passenger side window regulator. Other than that, on a daily basis its hard to resist going into max boost and resisting the urge to shift quickly (massive heavy flywheel and rev hang really suck).

It seems pretty tight, tracks OK and the steering is Germanic still. No abnormal tire wear. My first B5 A4 was incredibad until I changed out some front bits.

IROC-G LOL. Oh lawd I've not heard that before, but judging by other examples of the G i've seen... it works.

Would be hard any time a turbo is involved. I think instead of going back to a car you know you should try something new. Try a used Porsche.

All I remember is Tom and Ray saying that the kits to fix an Audi front end were a grand a wheel at cost, and of course they marked them up.

I really like the 944. I always want one when I see a clean one. I think the turbos have issues but go big or go home?
I think if I were to buy a Porsche it'd be the Cayman.
