On one hand, they're Seahawks fans.. On the other hand.. a masterpiece is ruined. I'm torn.

This happened right down the street from us about 2 weeks ago; I'm surprised to see this photo surface as everyone involved was keeping a pretty good lid on it. I saw it via text message with instructions not to share....

The short is - The car is an uber-rare $525k GTX1, ~1200hp twin turbo. That happened 2 blocks from the dyno where it was getting worked on. Word after that fact was that it was not likely saveable, which says a lot on a $.5m car. Parts!

It could be worse, they could be Patriots fans ... and what is/was it? I generally have an excellent eye, but ...

Good news is that there should be at least a few parts left useable. Can't say I blame them for wanting to keep it hush hush.

But when you tell a woman not to look, you know she's going to anyway. How sad for that GTX1.

Old Ferraris are wrecked in vintage racing by old guys with bad reflexes all the time and, even if the damage is major, they are rebuilt because they're so valuable. Is this that sort of car? It's rare that I don't know a car, but I have no knowledge. Expensive? Rare enough?

If I wrecked a GTX1, I'd try to keep it quiet also. What a shame.

27 left! Too bad. Although as a percentage, their values all just went up about $20k.

I'd rather there be 28 left instead of more $.

I feel like I might be to blame for this. I humbly apologize.

I was at Safeway yesterday and those Seahawks Bandwagon Jumpers (capital letters because it is a proper noun) were in front of me at the checkout. After they paid for their purchase (see below). I heard them tell the cashier "Go 'Hawks," which is the customary Seahawks Bandwagon Jumpers greeting. I couldn't resist asking them if they knew who Steve Largent is, the SBJ in the home jersey thought about it for a few seconds and said, "Uhhh ya he's The 'hawks offensive coordinator. Go 'hawks!" I pointed and laughed, this enraged the SBJ's. So, they went to the Starbucks in the Safeway, to get coffee so they would feel better, as I walked past them on my way out I heard the one in the away jersey say "That asshole in the Jets hat laughed at us, Go 'hawks! Doesn't he know we totally killed the Jets in week 3, Go Hawks!"

Kinja'd!!!

I think after our exchange the SBJ's got in their Prius and the one driving googled Steve Largent while drinking his Starbucks (because that is how people drive in the PNW, Starbucks in one hand, phone in the other) and then pulled out in front of "Vest Man" in his GT." Vest Man" wasn't able to avoid the SBJ's and hit them totalling the GT.

I apologize from the bottom of my heart.

(This may or may not be true. Except for the part about the dudes in the Seahawks jerseys being Seattle Bandwagon Jumper's. Because there is 98% chance they are. Also the "Who is Steve Largent?" question, I asked a "die-hard Seahawks fan since I was a kid," That same question and that was the response I got.)

It's a Ford GT X1

Most likely it is just sort of car. I wonder what it was insured for though, and whether or not it will be the next owner who restores it.

Wouldn't it be funny if it's one of those "we'll buy you a car a model year newer!" companies? Is there such a car? Could they find one?

Now I realize what it is - a hot Ford GT. Wonder what the total number built was?

The GTX1 is really even more special than that. Ford commissioned a man named Mark Gerish, who is sort of a one-off, bespoke coach builder who remixes existing cars and supercars. Kind of like the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring. This one's also about 5 times as expensive as a regular GT.

But those were built by hitting them with a hammer and welding things together, modern cars are not.

True - but it's amazing what you can do with money. If you'll spend enough, you can make it happen.

Some of the other comments say something like 27 of them are left, so I would have to say that it's pretty scarce.

I would think they can be declared illegal to drive, but it could be a track/show car.

I don't know the rules in whatever state they're in (probably Florida, because Florida) but a salvage title is a possibility.

Depends on whether we are talking about the original batch produced by Gennadi or the continuation models that are still being offered by Kip Ewing. If we are talking about both, then there are around 40 GTX1s produced so far.
