Huh?

You want a twin-engined Mustang? I'm sure that would be crazy fast at the drags, but it's not really that practical...

God damn that'd be stupid fast wouldn't it. My buddy and I were talking about how we would totally buy an AWD Mustang using the RS's AWD system. hnnnngg...

The 3.5 Ecoboost just won the 24 Hours of Daytona. Race on Sunday and sell on Monday. This engine should absolutely be in the Mustang.

I don't really know enough about how they drive to make a decision to be honest haha. Of all the different engine configurations I've driven (I4, H4, I6, V6, V8), I think I've actually driven V6s the least, and I don't think I've ever driven a turbo V6.

It's definitely coming. I bet it'll replace the 5.0 in a refresh. Ford is going to reserve V8s for low volume cars. (GT excluded because homoligation)

But oh god, think about the 5.0!! God forbid that gets outpaced by a V6 !!!

It's gonna get bested by a 4-banger already!! ;)

Easy solution to that. Give the V8 more horses!

I'd be totally on board with that. Of course, that would make a total of 4 engine options - 3 is already probably too much for American consumers to handle as it is, this isn't Europe, after all. We're not supposed to have choice here.

They just need to make a smaller coupe version of the SHO's drivetrain. No need to call it a mustang. Call it a Thunderbird.

The whole "shoulda had a V8" mentality that has poisoned American performance cars for ages needs to die already. As does the whole "the only people that buy cars are baby boomers so we're going to appeal to their nostalgia" thing. I'm 33 years old, and I'm like many people my age and I got into cars through Gran Turismo and not from some rose-tinted view of the past. Ford won my JDM fanboy ass by offering what is strangely the most Japanese techno-rad hot hatch sold in the US today (until the Focus RS comes out) with the Focus ST. We don't want an evolved dinosaur. We want a Playstation we can drive. We want to tune our cars with a laptop as much as we want to tune them with a wrench. We don't want to look at the past. We want to look towards the future.

Ford needs a V6 Ecoboost Mustang. Chevy needs a Corvette with the twin-turbo V6 you can get in the CTS. Purists are poison. Stop trying to appeal to them. You're trying to sell cars to people who would rather just pay absurd Barrett-Jackson retard prices to get the car their big brother had because they long for the past where the world wasn't scary because oh my god my son is marrying a man that he has been dating for the past 5 years and they're in love but he's black and oh god I don't know what to do I just want to drive my Mach 1 and listen to "Hotel California" oh no I control the world still but the world has moved past me help!

I'd do the other way around. Pull the mustang back to its pony car roots. Leave the higher weight, higher displacement to be renamed as something befitting a true muscle car.

I agreed with everything until you said:

the most Japanese techno-rad hot hatch sold in the US today (until the Focus RS comes out) with the Focus ST.

That makes me want my car even less. I don't like JDM nor do I want to be apart of JDM anything. Japanese is the last thing I'd ever want to hear about this car ever. Why can't it just be Euro? Why does it have to be JDM??

We don't want an evolved dinosaur. We want a Playstation we can drive.

I most certainly do not want a Playstation I can drive, I'm not about that NFS/Fast & Furious lyfe. And that sounds ricey as all hell. Almost every car on the road now is an evolved "dinosaur" as you put it and they have their place.

We want to tune our cars with a laptop as much as we want to tune them with a wrench.

Also no. I want to wrench on my cars, not solve all my problems with a tablet.

We don't want to look at the past. We want to look towards the future.

Yes, we want to look at teh future, but not your future. We want a future that has as much to do with the past and present as well.

Also, the generalizations, just no. I want an LS car or a 5.0 car, I want an "American car" just as much as someone else wants a "Euro car"; not some bastardized global compilation of cars together in one. I like American cars the way they are, and they shouldn't be the same as every other car in the world. Sure, there can be special versions that cater to other audiences(ST's and EB Mustang) but not ever single car. Younger generations like nostalgia as much as the old "baby boomers", my dad who is one appreciates the new Ecoboost cars as much as the old cars.

So really, I only agreed with the first sentence. But to each their own.

Except that the Coyote probably isn't heavier than than the twin turbo Ecoboost V6, and they're about the same size packaging-wise I believe.
