Their reliability was especially awful though. Later V8 models were much better but by the time they came out, it was too late to save the brand.

You aren't the only one who thinks motorcycles first when Triumph comes to mind.

I have a bit of a soft-spot for the TR7. They're very cool cars. Not much power in stock form, but that's because the company was wrecked by BL before they could do any development on it.

They had plans for a 2.0l 16v Sprint version with about 130bhp, and a V8 version with the 3.5l Rover V8.

There's people here who have stuck all manner of injected Rover V8s into them, ranging from 3.5l to 5.0l.

They're rather light too. The 2.0l ones were arounf the 1000kg mark, and the V8 ones weren't much more than that.

They're kind of awful, aren't they? Like almost all British roadsters, they can be kept on the road with a hammer and some duct tape, but also like all British roadsters, you will need to do way more duct taping and hammering than you'd want to do unless you're into that and aren't in a rush. I wouldn't mind making one into the most unlikely rally or LeMons competitor ever at some point, but I have too many projects and not enough space as it is.
