I'm surprised it was that close. AWD/dual-clutch vs. RWD/manual with more electronic nannies and it was still only 1.4 seconds faster. And $60k more at the end of the day. I'll take one Z06, please.

I'll take the GT-R all day

No surprise, but I do think it's the funniest thing that the Corvette is getting beaten on the straights while it was clearly slaughtering the GT-R on the corners.
That said, the GT-R was about $50,000 more, so...eh.

Would still take the Z06. V8, Manual, RWD, and simplicity for me.

I always thought you had a GT500 because of your previous avatar.

Nah, just a lowly little Focus. Fantastic car, just not exactly an impressive one. Speaking of our cars, how are you liking your 118 so far?

It is not mine, it's my sister's car. She likes it a lot. Her previous car was a 120i, and it is a big upgrade in every aspect.
I've only driven it once, and I liked it a lot. It is refined as fuck. Everything is so precise, silent, and well built. I didn't drive it fast because it's not my car, so I couldn't feel how good it could tackle corners. But overall I would give it something like 9/10.

Wow, $50k more for just that extra 55 HP...
I know there's more to it than that, but damn. There's only a $25k gulf between a base stingray and Z...

Right on, we only got the coupe in America so it's always interesting to hear about what other countries think of the cars we don't get, especially different versions of the ones we do. Glad to hear you both like it.

The outcome doesn't really surprise me. They're both great cars, but the GTR is kind of insane

These things are true:
At current power levels, the Z06 needs more wheel drive. The GT-R needs less fat and vidya games.

I still can't get it past that wicker bill spoiler. Couldn't they come up with something that didn't hinder the top end so badly? Gtrs at speed aren't that quick yet this one even beat the z07 in the 1/4 where it should have been king. Low trap speed for that kind of power me thinks.

your just mad the GT-R is stylin on you. Ya it's a little more expensive but you get better results. Also the vette is a me-too car like mustangs.

I'm just disappointed the Z06 was having overheating issues, hopefully they'll sort that shit out. I also think it might have too much aero, sounds like a stage II would have been faster, I don't think I've read anything about a stage I aero package Vette.

I think the Press car is the Z07 package car just cause it's a press car.

Because it's half the price and comes with manuel.

You're typing words and they form a sentence but that sentence doesn't make any logical sense.

911 = No Stick
New Ford GT = No Stick
Ferrari F12 = No Stick
Lamborghini Aventador = No Stick
GT-R = No Stick
See where I'm going? Stick's are done.
SVTyler

Corvette Z06 - stick
Mustang GT350 - stick
Viper - - stick
Focus RS - - stick
Cayman GT4 - stick
Camaro Z/28- stick
Hellcat Challenger- stick
ATS-V- stick
FiST/FoST- stick
Das manuel seems to be alive and well in cars not built for posers and pussies. And I could buy anywhere from 2-5 of the cars on my list for the price of one on yours. See, manuals are just better value as well.

Don't forget the Hellcat come with an Auto and is FASTER then the stick same with the Scat Pack. Z06 is also in auto and faster. Ford doesn't have a dual clutch till the new GT comes out and wait soon the Mustang will have a DCT.

If you're concerned about shift times making you slow in a 600+HP car you might have more problems than your transmission choice.

Just saying if you want speed then you need to go auto, if you want fun consider stick or a flappy paddle gearbox. Also you can't really botch a launch in an auto like you can a stick or miss a gear.

After all the hype surrounding the Z06, I thought it would at least come 2nd overall. Still the old dinosaur did alright in my books.

And a Z is way more car than the regular Stingray.
Really though, I think Nissan has a lot to be proud of with the GT-R. It's an ugly SoB, but goddamn is it a magical machine, turning in some of the most impressive real-world results from what I would consider modest specifications in its class. It will be interesting to see what they do with the R36, because they set the bar pretty damn high.

Doubt it. You can only pull Gs in a 2 ton car for so long. The GT-R masks its weight brilliantly with software, whereas the Z06 is a better balanced & lighter car to begin with, so I'll bet it's the better proposition, assuming you manage wheelspin well or keep the TC on.

Well seeing as the corvette was constantly stepping out, I'm guessing it's rear tires will be toast far earlier than all four GT-R tires
