Saw this little 2-door in an HEB parking lot tonight. What is it?

I was summoned by the HEB bat signal. HELLO FELLOW TEXAN!!! Excellent choice in shopping establishments. Sorry I can't help you ID the car, though. ^_^

Reminds me of a Datsun 610 coupe. Probably some older obscure Toyota or Mazda, is my guess.

As you can tell, this one has different tails, but the body lines are the same.

Howdy! We've crossed paths before, online at least. You're a fellow Austinaut, right?
This was the HEB right at the 290/71 split near Dripping Springs. Really interesting neighborhood; north of 71 is kinda ghetto, south is kinda middle-upper class.

There's one to start with... Isuzu made some really cool stuff in the 60s and 70s, and even the Piazza was awesome in the 80s...

Oh I'm late to this one, yeah thats an Isuzu. Isuzu had some pretty cool cars back then, most Americans only think of trucks.

Pre-80's Japanese brands never cease to surprise me, somehow.

I want a 60's Mazda Carol so bad. I have a 71' 240Z so I shouldn't complain, but they are so cool, rear engine air cooled like a Beetle in fact.

It's not all great here. I believe that 2015 marked the beginning of the mandatory driving-with-your-brights-on law.

I say that with every ounce of love. Hate-love.
Beautiful car, man. Original engine, or are you swapped?

Original block, rebuilt. Triple carbs, electronic ignition. We put a 5 speed in it, so much better.

I absolutely adore 240Z's, I hope to get behind the wheel of one someday, even if only for an afternoon.

They are a bare bones car, they are really a 60's car that was sold late. But they are better in the configuration I have. You feel everything, if the rear end hits anything your butt sensor picks it up, also the whole road comes through the steering, you know if anything is wrong.
