Thanks for your suggestions last night, everyone. What I did is took it to school where I have access to a power drill... and just used a drill bit and plowed through. Decapitated that shit. Upgraded RAM and put 'er back together. The only damage really was some scratches as shown, but underneath the machine who cares?

Kinja'd!!!

Thanks again.

its a HP DV6 core I5 2450 2.5GHZ

AMD Radeon HD 7690M XT - 1 GB GDDR5 SDRAM

WIN 8.1

it has 6GB which is a wierd combo and wonder if it would run better with an equal amount in each slot. it supports up to 16GB total. It boots quite fast but would like to speed it up a bit as it is a few years old. I am thinking of getting a SSD but kinda dont want to spend the money on an old lappy and hassle of moving everything over.

Mostly I think I just like hot rodding things cars computers. Its kinda fun plugging in some ram and booting it up for the first time.

Just buy a 4GB stick and replace the 2GB one with that... and get a 128GB SSD for like $60.

If you don't use the DVD drive, get a 2nd HD caddy and toss your ol' HD in it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2nd-SATA-H… Put the SSD in the main bay. $100 or so will go a long way.
