I hope it comes in form of the a larger NA engine.

Yup. But the Civic Type R is meh to me over all.
They try to make it exciting. But for me, it just gets uglier and chunkier and OMG look at my sculpted bumper and body creases bruh!
The Miata's beautiful though and I still have hopes for it, again :)
Sports car manufacturers should follow Ford's Focus RS example and make sure that the power is the last thing people complain about!

Exactly!
By the way, I have something for you the next time we hang out.
I brought it to the Auto show but left it in the car. I didn't want you/me to carry it around for 4 hours lol

Maybe they're thinking a bigger engine will make people forget about that front fascia.

I'd forget a lot of things for a bigger engine ;)
That's the only reason I like the new Ford GT

i feel like they could just rework the 2.0. I wouldn't mind a turbo version of the 1.5 engine europe gets to make a mazdaspeed car. The compression ratio in the 2.0 is too high for FI.

I didnt know that about 2.0's compression.
But I'd like to see a MazdaSpeed version with a decent increase in power, any way they choose to achieve it. And you can't get better than a larger NA engine :)

lager NA power is always nice, but as the article states i think the weight would upset the car somewhat. This is 2015, a 2.0L engine should be able to make more than 155bhp.

Hey, a guy can dream for a 2.4L :P
Maybe they'll put two batteries in the trunk, or give us a 20 gallon gas tank or an actual spare tire lol
Update: To offset the extra weight from the larger engine.

spare tire really mucks up what little available space there is in the truck of a NA haha

Then make room by making a coupe version!
Gimme what I really wanted in the first place (sexy nimble powerful coupe), dammit! lol

buy that would add weight:(
Plus owning a NA has really changed my mind about convertibles.

The fixed roof would add rigidity. Make it a transparent pane a-la-Corvette, if you want a light and airy cabin. Plus, the additional displacement would over-come the weight.
Tl;dr: LALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU MOAR POWAA

Sorry, I am a bit biased.
But that's why Miata already has two engine options, so you can pick yours the way you like :)
