That's kind of what I was thinking - that the teeth were from a Buick donor and the bar from something else. If I had to guess, possibly the top bar from a ~49 Olds. That military dually looks familiar, but I don't remember why off the top of my head. I like the big Ford (F5 or some such?) and the Dauphine manuals are worth a giggle... no surviving Dauphines?

nope, none surviving. That was her grandfathers barn, used to be a saab and subaru guy in the 70's, so alot of that barn is 96/gl/dl parts with some A mixed in for good measure. I havent crept around in the woods much but there could be something hiding out under a cover back there

This are the crew for a History channel show were this two guys go after old stuff, from signs to cars...

And in many episodes (almost all of them, to be honest) they end up in barns and places that look a little like the pics you posted

It's not actually Vietnam, it's WWII. It's something called a Burma Jeep, somewhere between 9000 and 15000 made. It's a 1 1/2 ton truck made by Ford with a straight six.

Not only is it that old, but it's pretty damn rare. Which isn't to say valuable as such, but compared to a WWII Jeep it's rare as shit.

it is odd it doesnt have the Buick Eight script on the top crossbar though. Sure looks right though

I started off with the assumption it was WWII vintage because it looked so very much like the Willys Quad and Ford GP prototypes.

yeah it said they made 15K of them, but that doesnt even come close to the Jeep production. flathead 6 cylinder. I wonder if I could make it run...

Kinja'd!!! RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht > 505Turbeaux
02/03/2015 at 11:05

Kinja'd!!!1

That source says 15k, but bangshift featured one for sale on eBay (apparently) and quoted only 6k made. The museum may be more likely to be correct, but compared to even, say, the Universal Carrier that's a tiny number, and most probably disappeared in the jungle somewhere.

yeah, 10,000 lbs! I sort of want to make this into some insane woods buggy. I just know her dad has plans for this pre war Ford fire truck shell (make some kind of hot rod out of it) and I don't know if that includes any bits from this thing

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!! RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht > 505Turbeaux
02/03/2015 at 11:36

Kinja'd!!!1

What would be clever with the fire truck shell would be to strip the heavier body casing from the rear, extend the hood to get in something big, move the driver's position back, and mock up the rear section in much lighter metal to look similar, but shorter. That way you get kind of the cartoon version of the fire truck, it still looks like a fire truck (but wilder), and the whole thing's light enough to be reasonably quick with whatever you stick under the hood.

I think the Burma Jeep needs to be rebuilt as much as possible as is, with additions, not subtractions.

I agree with that as well. This is the other reason why you need to come up, because besides your knowledge of parts, your knowledge of Frankensteining things also is helpful. He has alot of crazy ideas that need refinement or shooting down. If you can understand him through the maine accent

Like my dad says about construction, "Any architectural project is feasible if sufficiently funded". The best Fronkonsteen projects involve combining things you have, of course. To a point.

oh yes, for sure. He does have the money, but he is a little touched with his expenditures. Pretty much 5 properties full of cars and parts doesnt come cheap, although he likes to live that way, because fuck the man. Regardless, we'll get you up when the weather is alot better than this. I think there is a non turbo 83 300D up there also if you end up needing parts
