Kinja'd!!!

So I bought my 2013 Fusion on 1/14/2015 and I've already put over 3000 miles on it so I thought I'd share some MPG numbers.

It's rated at 22 city/33 highway (FWD) I've been averaging 25 MPG in-town (Pensacola)

Went on a 560 mile trip, cruising @ 68 MPH with no air conditioning I got 33.5.

On the return trip, I cruised between 70-74 mph, air conditioning on, had some additional weight in the car in the form of flatpacked furniture. got 31.7 MPG.

Overall I'm pleased, if a little surprised I wasn't able to best the highway rating better because I have with every previous car I've owned. I guess Ford is really pushing their MPG limits with the EPA for the whole Ecoboost marketing scheme. Can't help but think that my Grand Marquis was pretty fantastic for getting 27-28 MPG in the same conditions when its engine is over twice the size (but less powerful) and the vehicle itself weighs a good 600 lbs more. I guess that's the wonders of an engine hardly having to work at all.

Our Fusion Energi has some 19,500 miles and lifetime MPG is 51 :D

Pretty cool. I've found my car sits pretty close to EPA estimates most of the time. With previous cars I always did better. I think the EPA has gotten better.

That's awesome, my Dad likes my Fusion so much hes considering getting a hybrid or Energi Fusion of his own. How long does the electric range usually last before it switches to gas?

The worst I've gotten is 12, (but in cold weather it gets significantly less than usual). Average is 18-20. The best is 25-26.

Not a fair comparison admittedly.

Pretty sure that's a Fiesta(?) and if you're in England then your gallons are 20% larger. Still impressive.

It's a Focus diesel (4,500 rpm red line!) and while I'm not in the UK (kmh speedo) those are Imperial gallons so no, not a fair comparison. Shows what can be achieved without hybrid tech though.

"ittle surprised I wasn't able to best the highway rating better because I have with every previous car I've owned. I guess Ford is really pushing their MPG limits with the EPA"

How "loaded" is the car? The power seats, etc etc add a loooooot of weight on these things. Funny thing is, they're not really made for "big people." They contour to me fine, i love them more than my STi's recaros for side bolstering.

This is an SE with most of the options: the 2.0T upgrade, luxury package - which includes heated power leather seats among other things - plus the $2000 18" wheel package. My car doesn't have the original 234/45R18 Goodyear tires, it has Falkens that appear to be a more aggressive tread that could be costing some fuel.

All tolled I think my car weighs slightly north of 3500 lbs without people or cargo. I'm just a little guy (140 lbs soaking wet).

I agree that the seats are definitely not aimed at the widest among us though they fit me perfectly.

the falkans are waaaaay better then the factory shitgoodyear. And yeah the seats are amazing.
