You should find and read "On A Clear Day You Can See General Motors." It's his recounting of his time at GM and is a worthwhile read even today.

DeLorean spent quite a while at GM starting in the fifties. He was responsible for the whole "wide track" thing at Pontiac, and gave us the original GTO. He later became head of Chevrolet before leaving to build his own car.
