Trying to teach myself Illustrator. This is about the limit of what I’m capable of at the moment.

Tracing things freehand with the pencil tool is ridiculously difficult and not worthwhile. Use the pen tool to place points to create paths(lines) that are then editable. It’s much easier, faster and you’ll get good results when you come to terms with the intricacies of the tool.

Thanks for the tip. I kind of like the imperfections of the brush but I know if I want to do something serious (i.e. something computer-ready for BlipShift), I need to get better.
