That’s pretty clean and the miles are not bad. No underside pics though and I don’t think that leather is factory. I can’t recal if any 91’s had leather and that black leather isn’t a color im familiar with. FJ80’s are a bargain but you have to realize that they are not going to be “modern” cars. They had the rear drum brakes (instead of the discs on later models) and the anemic 3F engine with...wait for it...155 hp. Great rigs for durability though, very few computers and as reliable as granite.

Definitely NP. I don’t like the pre-facelift 80s as much (pre-95), but this one is in good shape and really well priced. Clean Carfax too — although it has been twice designated a “GROSS POLLUTER” by the state of California (IMO, a selling point).
Lifelong SoCal car, too.

Really? You don’t like the giant T O Y O T A on the front grille?
I think it really ties the front end together.

“Great rigs for durability though, very few computers and as reliable as granite.”
That would be the selling point, me-thinks.

Well, what I mean is that the early FJ80’s didn’t have an electronically controlled transmission, and the engine computer for the 3F was stupid simple and worse case you could go back to carburated if it was required. No ABS either. They got the modern 1FZ motor and ABS (along with 16 inch wheels, a full floating rear axle and disc brakes) in 93 and the electronically controlled 4 speed in 95.

Thats about the right price for an early FJ80...these haven’t seen the appreciation curves of the 40/55/60 yet.

Nah, I dramatically prefer the new grille, the airbags, and the newer wheels.
But we are splitting hairs here. 80 > virtually any other vehicle on the road, facelift or not.

I often consider these 80s but I can’t get past the fuel economy or the fact that it actually wouldn’t fit in my driveway :(
