The guys over at Flite test do a great job. They have an experimental mindset and their approach is both methodical and well-reasoned. They've put out some great designs with simple materials and building techniques.

That’s insane! I'm amazed those small motors had enough power to even get close to getting that thing off the ground.

Yeah, impressive alright. They still needed a truck to launch it. They are usually gear reduced so the bigger prop they can spin through that gear reduction the more efficient they are.
