Also, the only thing that MacGryver couldn’t fix was his Allroad.
But then he bought a new one!
The only thing I regret about buying my A6 is that I didn’t buy an Allroad. If I ever become wealthy, I’ll buy one and restore it to showroom condition and swap in the twin turbo V8 from the Rs6.

All your allroad posts and after driving an allroad, I totally want one myself.

Clearly, he’s on the Tony Stewart diet.

I love them, I think they look awesome, but I could never subject myself to that level of self-harm.

Same and now I’m jealous that opposaurus got one, further emphasizing my need to get one for myself.

An Allroad? We might have to do a group deprogramming here.

Interesting that it looks like he went from an A6 Allroad to a modern A4 Allroad. That’s brand loyalty.

Agreed, he must have really loved that thing. His net worth is estimated at around $20 million and he kept the old Allroad until around 2012. Then he bought a new one.

And he found a fucking 6-speed. There are now 32 all roads for sale within a 100 mile radius of me... only one is a 6-speed and the asshole wants ten thousand! Hah NO.

Haha, I saw that one.

And it’s got 160,000 miles. Which is a LOT for $10,000.
You can get one with 70k for that price.... Not a manual one of course.

What’s your opinion on the 4.2? Unfortunately my Google-fu shows transmission failure and torque converter to be a problem. But V8 and 300hp!

Yup, Google did you good. Torque converters and general transmission shitting of the bed was a major issue on those..... Luckily the 01e can be swapped into the 4.2 fairly straightforwardly. Around $2,500 if you buy everything and have it installed.
The 4.2 has got nearly identical performance figures to the 2.7t though. Otherwise, the 4.2 was a pretty solid engine.

I'm in the same boat, I'm pushing it with 3 German cars already. Last thing I need is an even more complicated one!

I know it's not the smart thing to do, but everytime I see one on autotrader I can't help but think..
