A classic car rental and an Alpine pass.
There are good days, and there are good days. This was a good day. Even if I’m sunburnt.
Happy Christmas, y’all.

New Zealand. It's summer here - convertible weather.

Corner marker. Very common on JDM import cars like this one: I guess Japan has lots of tight carparks.

Where is that? Lewis Pass?
And of course you would be sunburnt, you gotta love New Zealand’s sun (weirdly I didn’t get sunburned much while I was there, I got a nice tan though)
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

5 liter. And it needs every cc of it - they're heavy beasts.

Wonderful V8 right there!
How did you like it, and what made you choose it?

Picked it - from a fairly restricted range of choices in that district - because it was a convertible, likely to be a great fast cruiser, and I’d always wanted to drive one - they were a poster car in the 90s when I was starting to build “cars I might realistically own one day” lists.
Loved it! It’s no sports car, but it’sgot plenty of oomph, it feels like it’s carved from rock - the ride and handling just mash the road into submission - and its astonishingly calm at speed with the top down. I may write a proper review in a week or two when I have time

Its an SL, if course they’re super well composed at speed!
Why dont you think its a sports car? I know theyre great GT cars, but I consider them quite sporty.
Just curious, as I own an R129 myself, and think theyre an experience everyone should have. Just like R107s. Id love a 380SLC.

Variations in personal use of terminology, I guess. For me, a sportscar should feel like it wants you to really toss it around. This didn’t. It’s a fantastic GT, and fun at 7/10ths on a windy road, but I wouldn’t take it to a track day.

You need to experience the V12. It’ll break your heart and make you always want to come back.

I’ve owned old Jags and Citroens, my heart’s no longer breakable!
I’ll have a V12 anything, though.
