Why half-ass it? Go all the way and buy an old Alfa, then you can push it everywhere.

Walk
Nothing beats walking. Using your legs and feet to push yourself along a path uses no fuel at all! Your car’s gas tank will never empty, and you will never have to pay to fill it up, ever again!

Better tip: buy a plug-in hybrid. Used Volts are definitely coming down in price. Same with the Mitsubishi iMiev. I’ve seen them for $6k US.

Related money saving tip:
Since you never use your car with all that fuel saving walking, might as well take it off your insurance and stop paying for tabs.
Oh, and I forgot, this one weird trick the gas station doesn’t want you to know can make you thousands of dollars in one day!
Sell your car.

Well, due to the E30, I’ve gotten used to the lack of power steering, so why not just park it on the edge of the drive way and just tie the steering wheel in a certain angle, walk out and just kick the car to motion?

I like looking through those tips - some are so ridiculous

Simple. Drive your vehicle until the ‘low fuel’ light comes on, then just keep on driving it. Push the odometer trip button and see if you can go another 30 miles. My low fuel light comes on when I still have 2 gallons left… so if I get 20 mpg I should be able to go 40 miles, right.? When you are using your last 2 gallons of fuel, you will quickly learn how to get good fuel milage… the closer to an empty tank, the better the lesson. Just try it a few times and you will see for yourself… you will learn quickly. :)

Nah, I’ve totally done that before. I parked my wife’s car too far forward in the garage once and had already turned it off before I realized it needed backed up. Since we both drive a manual, you bet I popped her into neutral and just pushed it back a few feet.

Right, me too in the pickup, but do you incorporate the maneuver in a full 3-point turn? I say.

Back being a broke 18 year old , I once ran out of gas-while going to retrieve a car I had ran out of gas.

3 point turns use too much fuel stopping and starting. I save fuel by doing handbrake turns instead!
