2016 BMW X5 28i Xdrive! The engine wasn’t top of the line, but it had plenty of pep. Had a panoramic roof, navigation, etc. Everything you would expect out of what is apparently referred to as the “exotic SUV” class. If you can call it “exotic”...which you can’t outside of a rental car fleet.
But the most important thing I have to say about it is the seats. Oh my god, the seats. Better than my Continental. Soft, supportive, fantastic. Shockingly so. Even covered in the awful fake leather, they were spectacular.

Must be an X3, cause I don’t think the X5 comes in 28i trim (definitely not in the US). Would be elated if somebody gifted me one, but I would just get a 328i xDrive and save lots of $$$.

All I can say is, it said 28i on the driver’s door and X5 on the trunk. I wouldn’t be surprised if dealers only stock the 35i and 50iI and the 28i is only sold on request and to parties looking to keep cost down.

I drove an X5 35i with the M sport package this summer. I hate large SUVs because of all the numbness and mommy features, but man did I love that thing.
The seats as you say were fantastic, the steering wheel felt so good, the steering was direct, and most importantly, the transmission in sport/manual/M mode was actually good. It did what I wanted it to, and man did it haul.
But, since I was in NVH, for the love of god do not pull down the deflector when the sunroof is open. It’ll shake the inside of the car so much, we actually knocked something loose in the back.
