2 months ago this econo-box rental took me from from Venice to Rome, with a stop-over in Sant’Agata and Modena for visits to the Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari museums.
Quite a fun car and my first experience driving a manual. It works in the little Italian cities and on twisty rural roads but really loses it on the highway. Hard to imagine that my DD makes 4x as much HP and 3x as much torque.

From the wheels it looks like yours was an Adam Glam which is a 1.2i 70ps.
An Adam S with a 1.4i and 150ps might of been more your thing more the motorways.

When these were new in 2013 the local Opel dealer offered free weekend-long test drives. So I registered for one. I got a purple one, just like in the picture. It had purple leather all over, including on the dash. Parking sensors, heated steering wheel/seats, you name it. Tiny, but not an econobox as you can have a lot more car for a lot less money. It’s marketed as a luxury car, and GM isn’t totally wrong about that.
Anyway, great city car. The short wheel base made it less comfortable at highway (130 kmh) speeds. That’s something more power can’t overcome.

The next generation model is supposed to be coming to America as a Buick, too.

I’ve never driven one, but I think it looks really good. A bit like a Fiat 500 or a Mini, but without actually being a direct “interpretation” of a classic. It’s sort of more honest that way, IMHO, rather than trying to capitalize on a classic economy car with a new one that is similar in looks only.

Agree. That was my thought the entire time I was driving.

My rental wasn’t as decked out as you put it but I liked the interior more than the typical Chevy Spark or Ford Fiesta rental.
I have absolutely no idea how much the Adam costs and how that compares to these other cars.

I wanted to rent a 500 just so I could say I drove the quintessential Italian car on Italian roads. But, imo, the Adam actually looks more Italian because the base 500 is kind of bland. The Adam has style and a bit of flair. It's quirky and easier to pick out in a parking lot.

I can see such a car selling as long as they up the power a bit and keep a nice interior.
