I’m still getting the lay of the land around here, but this is definitely my most surprising discovery thus far.
What’s especially surprising is this car, which has clearly been here for a while, is just sitting at the front edge of a vacant lot separated from a relatively busy street by a simple chain link fence, yet it looks basically undisturbed. And while the exterior is a little worse for wear, and who knows what’s going on with that 6.75 liter turbo V8 (or the rear suspension - bodies in the trunk?), the interior is in remarkable shape with all glass intact. If I was younger I would have long since busted in and turned it into a sweet fort.
No idea who owns it, but even in its current state there’s gotta be $20K sitting here wasting away while people walking past give me funny looks for taking pictures of yet another abandoned car. If only they knew... but maybe it’s better they don’t.

Soooooooo niiiiiceeeeeeee. Do want.

The fact that it’s a two door makes it worth MONEY. Try to make an offer. I can’t really tell, but it sort of looks like the factory widebody rear too from this picture, making it even more rare.

That’s crazy.
I wonder how you can pull off taking possession of it...

I will try to take better pics - determined to get up close behind the chain link next time.

Would love to see a DeMuro style one-year-review of this! Actually I suggested a Bentley to Doug in his search for a new car.

I’m definitely going for the VIN next time for more info, but if this went to a public auction I would be outbid. My hope is someone sees me ogling it, says something like “Oh, that there’s Big Jim’s! He ain’t around no mo. His daughter’s been tryin to get rid of that for years.” You don’t say...

That’s definitely worth hunting down the owner for. Maybe they’ll just give it to you if you want it

VIN and then go to the DMV and find out who the last registered owner is.

Holy mother of fucking want.

This has to be up there with the most valuable abandoned cars; wonder how long it's been there

I don’t think it is - those thin-lip rear fenders don’t look like the widebody rears.
![]() 12/22/2015 at 15:28 |

Yeah, and the widebodies were only made post 1998 facelift when they added the vents under the headlights - this one has amber indicators there so it must be older.

This looks Park Slope-y... or Prospect Park-y... or Midwood-y... or Bed Stuy-y...
I will now consult Google Maps satellite view.

i think you’d have to get behind that fence in order to snap a photo of the vin.
but i believe that would be trespassing.
next option is to have someone at the dmv run all of the red bentley r’s in the state. but that would likely require a police badge.

Anyone's guess, but the back tires were sunk in at least an inch

These are the closest thing we ever got to the classic WO Bentleys. I want one bad bad bad bad bad.

Fortunately trespassing on a vacant lot is pretty easy

Me too, I did an instant double take when i looked across the street and saw this

It's one of those -ys!
![]() 12/22/2015 at 15:39 |

yeah, it really is hard to make a guess; these are heavy cars, and if the ground’s fairly soft, I can see the wheels sinking pretty quick

How come I can't get (Rock) Superstar out of my head now.

Nothing like saving an abandoned car. Find a way my man
![]() 12/22/2015 at 16:37 |

The owner is on a 5-10 year ‘vacation’
![]() 12/22/2015 at 16:41 |

Okay, that’s nutz. Like those wheels and that color red.
![]() 12/22/2015 at 17:54 |

Sweet. Might be worth checking into to see if you can find the owner or if there’s some sort of abandoned property law that would allow you to claim it (probably a long shot).

Somebody cared enough to put a tarp on it.
It looks like it was strapped to the wheel and then somebody pulled it off to get a better look. Then somebody probably re-secured the tarp with branches and old boards

first, find out who owns the lot, cause technically, whether he is the original owner or not, he now owns said vehicle. then offer to take that “eyesore” off his “beautiful” property!

Excellent call

Probably easier to find out the lot owner than the car owner. :)
