That’s crazy.

For some reason I always thought the idea of a space plane was cool - basically a combination jet/rocket that could take off like a plane, get to really high altitudes, and come back down like a plane. I guess this sort of negates the need for such a thing, though.

I tried sooooo hard to leave work early and drive to Cape Canaveral to watch. But I wasnt able to leave work till 8:15, launch was at 8:29.

However, I did find a dark parking lot to watch. Heres a crappy pic from the edge of Orlando.

Oh yeah, it came down pretty quick so I couldnt get a pic. After launch it dissappeared into the clouds. A few minutes later you could see it come back down. It looked like a reverse launch, engines glowing in the night sky. It was amazing even from far away! Cant tell ya how sad I am that I couldt drive out there.
