Edit #4: Thankfully, the sound minds here at Oppo (hey now, quit laughing!) helped me to think clearly and come to a calm, rational decision. I went to the shop, told the mechanic about the leak, and he said that the shop would take care of it for free if it turned out to be faulty workmanship on the shop’s part. I feel like a bunghole for feeling the way I felt, but thankfully, everything is looking up. More to follow on the 28th.
Edit #3: Tomorrow I’ll be taking the truck by the shop and see what they say. With luck (fingers crossed) I’ll be able to have the repair covered by them. Either way, this disappointed me. Thank you everyone that provided input, I’ll follow up on this as time moves forward.
Edit #2: After cleaning up the oil from around the base of the oil cooler (engine is a 6.0 Powerstroke), I let the engine idle at temp for about 10 minutes. Needless to say, there’s seepage around the base of the oil cooler while the engine is at idle. I can think and say a lot of things, but this seems like an issue with either a.) Torquing the bolts down properly or b.) ensuring the gasket surfaces were properly cleaned, and free of nicks/gouges.
Edit: Thank you for the input I’ve received so far. This is frustrating to say the least, I’m trying to keep my cool and think logically. I was supposed to be leaving on a trip to FL from VA tomorrow - yeah, that’s not happening. Holy shitty timing, Batman!
Okay, so, a couple of weeks ago, you may or may not have seen a post where I finally got my truck back. Well, as it turns out, the truck has been leaking oil worse and worse....from the site that the shop repaired.
I do not want to take it back to the shop that I got the repair done at.
What I’m wondering, and seeking advice on, is if I have a leg to stand on in court.
Any helpful thoughts and advice would appreciated.
Thank you!

Reasons you don’t want to go back to that shop?
What was the issue that they fixed?
Could this leak be caused by something else?

I had the oil cooler replaced. The oil cooler is leaking oil.
Last year I had them do some work for the EGR cooler. One year later, the repair failed, and I did not know about that until after they had started in on the oil cooler repair. Basically, they told on themselves.
I do not trust this shop. I do not trust their mechanics.

How much $$ are we talking here? Certainly small claims court; is it really worth your time? Do you have a win-able case? What failed on the oil and EGR coolers, and are you sure it’s the shop’s fault and not just shitty aftermarket parts?

The oil cooler was made by PPE. I suppose it’s possible, but even if it failed, it still leaves me the downtime on the truck and the cost of labor.
The repair bill on the truck was $175-ish on top of the costs paid by the company that I bought the warranty on the truck from. They paid $900+, I paid $175.00, altogether this is just aggravating.
I’m not jumping into anything yet, just getting feelers out.

This isn’t legal advice and I’m not a lawyer. Your damages don’t include the warranty work - that didn’t damage you. So it’s $175. You probably can’t claim downtime for the initial repair so you’re left with downtime on the second repair of the same part. However, you’d need to prove that the first repair was done incorrectly. That would take a second shop who is willing to put that in writing.
If it were me, I’d have a calm rational conversation with the first shop. Tell them what you know and how you feel about it. Don’t make threats. Most shops hate seeing a car come back in for the same issue - it’s bad for the long term viability of that customer. Be frank and don’t lose your cool. The fact that they “told on themselves” leads me to believe they’re not out to screw people.

Told on themselves: They were the shop that did the EGR cooler repair, but they asked me whom it was that did the EGR repair.
They did not say, “We screwed up the EGR repair and we’re sorry” (they never even apologized).
When I said they told on themselves, what I meant to say was, the shop told me there were issues with the EGR being damp, and then asked me who did the EGR repair, despite the fact it was their shop that did the repair. I’m not naming the shop, nor am I naming names (I refuse to do that, for...reasons).
