Oh, don’t feel too bad. At least you don’t have the Vulcan in a pickup truck like I do. Besides, it ain’t all bad. It may be powerless and not too exciting, but it’ll run for just about forever.

Except in the 3rd gen Taurus where a complete and utter moron designed the cooling system. I also had a head gasket blow on mine.

See the cooling system on my truck seems like it’s less than efficient, it never overheats but it always does at least smell hot. The coolant is also always a nasty brown color even shortly after it’s fresh and green. There’s also nasty gritty sludge in it at times, and I believe it and the color are caused by excessive corrosion.

Maybe they use the same cooling system. It's impossible to keep the coolant clean. I remember one time talking to somebody and they said there was something electrical that caused there to be massive amounts of corrosion. Some Tauruses have to have the heater core replaced multiple times because of this.

I’m sure the system is similar. I know the 3.0 has issues with coolant corrosion. Knock on wood though, mine has 145k miles on it and still running fine with no major engine repairs needed (transmissions on the other hand..... curse you 5R44E)

Mine had a ton of issues. However I blame myself, I got tired of looking for a car and bought the next thing that came along. I hate the Vulcan regardless.
