I miss my E24! Those red sport seats are drool worthy. Mine had the comfort seats AKA stiff armchairs lol. I need to grab another while they are still under valued...

I would daily the fucking hell out of this all year (and keep my clean E24 clean). Also, autos aren’t that bad in these. It’s like starting in second in a manual.

Likewise. Plus the feeling of dropping down from fourth to third to pass anything is intoxicating (and I myself like the fourth-fifth change, where you just throw the stick forward knowing that you can lean back and let the torque do the work).

Those are both excellent. I’m pretty partial to 2nd gear pulls in my friends e28 as well, it would hit 100km/h before it hit the rev limiter. Granted, it did have a raised limiter

Funny you mention that—when I first told my father about my E24 after I got it, his first reaction was how when he was in college, he and a friend of his figured out they could merge onto the highway in his friend’s mom’s E28 in 2nd. I quickly realized through driving my car that they must have been fucking screaming in 2nd to do that. It sounded outlandish, but definitely possible.

Any other mods in that car? I’ve been considering a MAF conversion and maybe a tune of some kind, but I’m so hesitant to modify my car beyond wheels, suspension, and trim.

Haha awesome. Yeah it was definitely possible, my friend would also downshift aggressively and really confuse people as his car kept getting louder and louder as we all slowed from 100 or so.

It had bilstein HDs, stock springs with 2 and a half coils cut out, 2 1/2” exhaust with just a resonator and a glasspack, and the previously mentioned dinan chip. For a $1500 rusty old e28, it was a monster

Damn, that must have been a fucking blast. I had a project E24 for a while with a friend that had straight pipes out to a glass pack, and if a friend and I hadn’t dove into trying to re-paint it (terrible idea, would’ve been better to drive it as a rat and try to sell for $2500, since the car had so much weird shit wrong with it), I can’t help but think how fun it would have been.

It really was, he eventually sold it and now has an e34 540i, but I still love the old e28, it means I definitely need something manual and m30 powered in the future. Yeah, I highly recommend kind of ratty fast beaters
