Montero Sport vs. Pathfinder vs. WJ Grand Cherokee. What do you pick and why?

WJ. Hi-Lo 4WD like the others, but I can also get a near-luxury interior and a 235hp V8 with oodles of torque.

I’m torn between the WJ and Pathfinder. If this was before the Pathfinder got the 3.5 VQ, it would be easy...

...I think I’ll have to go with Pathfinder because no 90s/early 2000s era Chrysler electronics to deal with. Make it an LE, please.

Montero.

The post 1995 Pathy does nothing for me. Too soft, feminine.

The 99-04 Jeep GCs just weren’t that good in the not grenading the engine dept. Which is an important dept to be good in.

once you run out of gas or breakdown, i’ll pass you and wave from the pathfinder with a 240hp v6 which also has a near luxury interior.

I’d take the Pathfinder. I like the exterior and interior styling, and the 3.5L VQ engine is pretty nice (good for 240 hp).

Also look at the 2001 QX4, its basically the same as the Pathfinder LE but with an improved 4wd system (switch with addition of Auto setting instead of lever), HID headlights, rear seat heater option, and they were cheaper for me than the comparable Pathfinders. I did some preventative maintenance and fluids and it has been rock solid on camping trips with some off road action as well as snow trips.
