So, while wandering through the seedy underbelly of the Internet, I came across a car covered in pennies. My feelings are quite conflicted and I wanted to see what other oppos thought of it.

This is an example of one I found with Google image search...

Good from far and far from good.

I suppose it’d be nice if you planned on being tired of bronze and would prefer green.

You just want me $.02 on it all?

Modern pennies have so little copper that they would be hard pressed to turn truly green. Other shots I found of this car from car shows had a sign encouraging people to touch it, which would also oil the pennies.

Right, so I guess I should cancel my plan to steal the car and melt it down for the copper.

Wouldn’t be worth much. The most valuable pennies on this car are either very old or not copper (and therefore have numismatic value well above the face value)

In theory, the only way you could make money melting pennies would be if you only melted ones made in the higher-copper eras that weren't worth more due to what they were.

I read pennies wrong.

No - keep a classic a classic - restore it, or pass it on to someone who will.

I’m not normally one for art cars but I kind of like it. Maybe it’s because the color of the pennies suits the car.

What if it was a Toyota Camry?

This was just a good example and it has been like this for over 15 years.

It's roughly 200lbs, so really not that much.

My ‘88 Camry Wagon 5M was a sweet, if boring little car. Gray - and to see it covered with nickels would have hurt me. But not as much as this Cadillac.

It’s like a copper disco ball, I like it! Clear coat the thing and it’ll be shiny forever
