Winter No. 4 in NW Montana and I’m still amazed at how freaking awesome snow tires are. Here’s my DD with some Bridgstone WS 70’s. If you all have photos of your snow shoes lets see them out in the open.

The 80’s are really good, I have them on the Outback (the car my wife gets to drive). Two of my co-workers have put he WS80’s on their outbacks and are really happy.

I would star this, but my clicks are futile. Is that a bill murray sticker?

It hasn’t been cold enough (when I’ve been here) this year to slap them on yet. I, too, have a set of WS70s for my car. They’re all mounted up and stacked in my living room.
Once it is cold enough, I’ll get them on there...

Nice. Does the 3 series have traction control or do they leave it up to you? My car is too old and cheap to have TC.

WS80s
Unfortunately, I’ve seen snow exactly once in the last month and a half.

This pic from last year... when we had snow. This year is going quite differently but I put them on anyways. Sottozero 3 tires on Sport Edition A8 wheels (which are made of iron).

I wanted the 2.3l when I bought mine but they were still kinda pricy. I found my 2i fully optioned so it’s basically an S model with the wimpy motor.

Almost 50/50 weight balance means the rears get loose all the time. Its a fun challenge.

I wussed out and didn’t want to pony up the $800+insurance it would have cost me to do this :(

Lots of life changes going on lately, with a new job and new place, I haven’t been able to allocate the time or money to the project that I should be. Realistically, the build will probably start in earnest next fall. Thanks for asking though!

Mine was the only BK hatchback with a stick within a reasonable radius when I was looking. Those were the two biggest factors for me, getting the larger, more powerful engine was just a bonus.
There’s a 5-speed ‘08 2.0 at one of the local dealers that I kind of want to check out just to see what the smaller engine is like. I can’t imagine 16 hp makes all that much difference.

The 2.0 is surprisingly adequate and returns upper 20’s for around town driving an low to mid 30’s on the highway. The motor is very rev happy and pulls strong to redline. I really can’t complain.

Potato pic, but 8-10 inches of snow couldn’t stop me!
I should probably make sure I didn't snowplow my front plate off though.

That’s about what i figured. I average mid-20s around town and low-30s on the highway with the 2.3.

I got some General Altimax Arctics for the MR2 last winter and it completely blew my mind how awesome they were. Now here we are halfway through December and it’s still in the 60’s.

Nice rally lights, sorry for the lack of snow. Those General Tires w/ studs are really popular here.
