If you pay attention you’ll notice the forward fuselage flex when it makes contact with the ground. You might be wondering, that doesn’t seem good for the aircraft. It’s not, though this aircraft was most likely returned to flying status regardless.

It was. 85-0070 went back into service, not to be retired until Aug 2002.

I know someone that used to work at Boeing on the B-1B assembly line. She told me that a test that they performed on them (I imagine sort of a crash test not a final test of each one but could be wrong) was that they put the plane in a device that would bend the wing tips until they touched each other. You think of a plane as being very rigid, but in reality it is very flexible. Much more flexible than the flex you see during that rough wild turbulent flight that makes your stomach churn.
