The British-sourced people’s car of India. I would love to roll up in one in the local little India part of my city. Might make a decent #DougCar

I think there were some small numbers of Morris Oxfords sold here in the ‘50s, but the Hindustan version never came here. At least, not officially. There’s probably at least a few private imports here now, since anything 1990 and older is legal and they do have a following.

Just rebadge a Morris Oxford or Austin Cambridge with Hindustan Ambassador badges. Worked for India, why couldn’t it work in another former British colony. ;)

Once upon a time I wanted to import one. It seems relatively easy but the easiest way to go about getting one for a good price in decent condition and ship it is to go over to India. That's what stopped me, but one could probably get it all done for less than $6k it seems.

The new ones looks amazing, too bad for the 25 year import rule.

Yeah well I’m not sure people in the States would be able to tell the new and old one apart. I’m sure you’ll find people at the Indian title tag place will be more than happy to make a typo in the year registered field for some cash :)
And at the port in the States? Just tell em its been restored by the factory itself lol

That’s crazy enough to to work to be honest. Most people would think it is just some car from the 50’s.
