I don’t understand how they have done so poorly on the market. Maybe they should have just stayed private?

GoPros are hard to use

Yeah, because they’re not piddly little point-and-shoot digital cameras.

And so it more or less seems right now as if GoPro shares came to market at a time when people thought everyone would find it really fun to record everything they did and then put that footage on the internet.

Except doing that isn’t actually that easy. Or fun perhaps.

Bottom line for me is that it’s still a chore to get GoPro video even onto YouTube.

I’ve got a couple of options, since I don’t really use a PC anymore. Use an old iMac or an even older iMac and spend an hour trimming, editing, and converting a few minutes of footage, or pop the MicroSD card into my phone and upload directly to YouTube - no editing.

If you do a lot of video editing, then sure - that’s just the way things go. But we’re talking about the consumer side of this higher-end product. Its whole existence is as a “look what I did!” camera, and it should be far easier to share the video moments after it’s taken.

e: and the only people I know who regularly use GoPro cameras are automotive people. It’s not convenient enough for the people I used to know that would take the camera surfing or snowboarding, or mountain biking. I’ve seen more and more that they only use them for pre-planned shoots once the novelty wears off.

And the firmware is pretty shit. Mine is being replaced under warranty as we speak.

Pop a microsd card into your phone? You’re a funny guy, I like you.

I’m dreading the day when my phone needs to be replaced... I’ve got several hundred GB worth of MicroSD cards that float around between my devices.

Also, my phone did eat one MicroSD card this summer, just as I was on a plane back from vacation. Really really fantastic stuff.

They’re not croaking. This is just a stock broker that is downgrading the rating on a stock... long AFTER it has already tanked.

Sometimes when brokerages do this, it’s because they want to drive the price down more so they can scoop some stock up cheap.

In reality, they’re a profitable company that is still growing:

Of course they’re also having some increased competition. But that doesn’t mean they’re going out of business.

It should be noted that the 4th quarter is typically their biggest quarter for sales.

I hope Fitbit takes notice, cause this is gonna be them if they dont manage to bring something new to the market in the coming years.

Eh, there’s nothing wrong with the company, people just thought they were the next sliced bread, the stock got overvalued, and the market has since corrected.

I think the biggest knock against the gopro is its price. its expensive for what it is. Its a novelty for a hobby. Its hard to justify spending 400 on a novelty for a hobby. I mean, its already difficult to justify that price on an everyday use thing.

They have only recently put out something cheaper, but its still at least 2x more expensive than the knockoffs on amazon.

Id easily spend 50-100 on a hd camera, but not 400....
