I'm feeling very Paul Simon today.

Wonderful album, truly inspired work.

Sure Paul is an egomaniac who has numerous times been accused of “borrowing” riffs from groups he performs with, the fact is the dude is a poet who knows good sound.

One of my favorite albums of all time though. I have it in my rotation and listen to it at least monthly.

If I remember correctly, one of Douglas Adams’ books has a dedication to Paul Simon “whose album One Trick Pony I listened to incessantly during the writing of this book. Five years is much too long” or something like that.

I’ve only recently gotten this album. I acquired it because You Can Call Me Al was stuck in my head. At first I considered the rest of the album to be extraneous but it has really grown on me. I find myself singing the track I posted often.

Can we just discuss for a minute how You Can Call Me Al doesn’t sound like the rest of the album at all?

TIL: Douglas Adams had one of the largest collections of left handed guitars in the world.

I think it was the only song on the album recorded 100% in NYC, so it was likely one of the last recorded as he was really only finishing the album at that point based on what he had recorded elsewhere.
