Kinja'd!!!1 Kinja'd!!! 31

Consider the following scenario:

You’re driving around on some exotic island in the car/truck/bike you think sounds better than anything else in the world. You’ve got music playing on said vehicle’s world-class Bang & Olufsen/Mark Levinson/Snooty McSnooterson stereo.

Suddenly a paradox of biblical proportions presents itself: You are about to enter an acoustically-perfect, 5-mile long tunnel, but your all-time favorite song that you haven’t heard in OMG FOREVER!!! has just come on the radio.

What do you? You can’t pull over. Do you crank the stereo or do you turn that thing down and listen to the engine wail through the tunnel?

BONUS: Tell me what vehicle and what song would create this conundrum for you.

Car. The song will come again. Or you can go find it.

I’d listen to the car. I can find the song later.

I would make a mental note to add the song to my iPod if it is not already there and turn off the radio.

EDIT: I can’t think of a song that’d cause this conundrum but the vehicle would be powered by a GM 4.3 with zoomies.

Lexus LS400.

With straight pipes. And totally windows down.

There would be no conundrum whatsoever. If I like the song that much, it’s on my phone, even if I haven’t listened to it in a while. I can play it after I get out of the tunnel.

Roll down those windows, and listen to the beautiful sound of an LS small block all day long.

Yeah, I should have added some kind of restriction that said that the song is mysteriously only available on the radio so then and there is your only chance to hear it. Eh, oh well.

Stomp on the gas pedal, rip the knob off the radio, and go deaf from both blaring at full bore.

Car definitely, but my choice would be a 60s 250cc racebike

I’d also take it’s 50cc little brother any day.

I would press this button:

Kinja'd!!!

Now your obvious response to this would be, but I said radio, as in FM.

my rhetoric to this is, a 5 mile long tunnel you will loose radio reception anyways so if you are in fact speaking of FM radio your conundrum is invalid as your only option is turn the radio down as you enter the tunnel and the song turns to static.

Otherwise, you would be using some form of digital media, in which case, the pause button will work, and as such, you can enjoy both the tunnel, and then resume your song.

Trick question, I am on a Honda RV211V (75.5 degree V5 for the win). Motorcycles don’t have stereos, and I don’t ride with headphones for safety reasons.

Why not listen to the song and then turn around and go back through the tunnel?

Or, you know, listen to the song later on the internet. Engine Noise trumps all.

For me, it would be an ‘03/’04 Mustang Mach 1 running a catted x-pipe and a *very* low-restriction exhaust (not straight-piped, but damned close) and the song would be Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix) by Rob Zombie. I’d crank up the radio, drop it into 3rd, and let ‘er rip!

Source: Previous Mustang Mach 1 ownership, and a love of most music Rob Zombie.

A song vs this?!

Hell no to the song, hell yeah to the true dual super 44’s

People who don’t know a ton about cars always ask what kind of stereo I have in it and how the sound is.

Well it’s the stock AM radio from 1968 with it’s stock 1 speaker in the dashboard.

I never turn it on

I would blast through the tunnel at full speed in a 2009 Corvette ZR1. Sway by Dean Martin is a wonderful song but the real music of my people is an orchestra of internal combustion
