I’m not an expert on the American muscle cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Any idea which model this is?

I think the owner of that Nova took the whole chevy bow tie a little too seriously.

‘69 Nova. Looks like a nice black. Not a correct SS if that’s what he was going for. Door striker needs to be adjusted :D

I knew it was a ‘68-’72 Nova. What details give it away as a ‘69 specifically? I know the minutia of Chevelles, I need to bone-up on my Novas.

Quick rundown:
0.) The VA antique plates say “Virginia 69”
1.) Lack of hood emblem makes it a little harder. It would say “Chevy II” for a 68, it would be a bowtie for all others.
2.) Original 68 rear view mirror would be narrower.
3.) Displacement emblems would be foil stickers for *some* of the ‘68 model year. Early build.
4.) Turn signal bezels are 68-69 style. 70+ are longer and narrower.
5.) Grille should be blacked out for an SS
‘68: Note the Chevy II emblem up front and the location of the Nova script on the rear quarter. Only year of “SUPER SPORT” fender bars.
‘69: Note the blue bowtie, Nova script by optional fender gills, still has CID+turn signal of ‘68
‘70: Note the change in CID/turn signal style, optional fender gills still present. Front bumper turn signal lenses are clear, all other 3rd gen years are amber. Last year of fender gills. You can’t see it but the brake light/reverse light configuration is different from previous years.
‘71: Basically the same as ‘70 but the fender gills are no longer available. No big block option. Front bumper signals are back to amber.
‘72: Basically the same as ‘71 but the clear reverse lens in the taillight lens is larger.
From memory. LOL.

Bloody hell. I don’t know which makes my head hurt more - that GM made all these minute changes or the fact that you can recite them from memory....

In my defense, the history of the F/X platform has been my thing for a while now. I used to do (informal- as in unpaid) appraisals and inspections.

When I was 16, I had the opportunity to buy a Nova SS big-block, with the traction bars and big Cragars out back. (At the time, it was only 10 years old and not worth what it is now) My father forbid it, and that is why I am alive today.

Pretty sure that vinyl roof and vent window is a 1969 Dodge Charger.
