Getting to know the AP1 better; I’d say I was around 8/10 on parts of my back-roads drive this morning. Enjoyed the old roads, and a not-so-slow Hyundai Elantra paced me on a really great new one I found.

On the Spooky Road, all the amnimals wanted to check out the S2000; a family of deer and an opossum (narrow miss) came on each other’s heels, and I got to test hard braking.

Today was first real oppo, as the back came out in a 35-mph decreasing-radius corner. Came right back into line with a steering tweak. I’m finding that in general, as long as you are on the throttle, the AP1 is neutral in the corners.

There’s something magnificent about putting the top down in 55-degree weather, getting your gloves on, and hitting the back roads. Passing instantly from smells of burning firewood, to evergreen groves, to farms, rich soil, rubber as I get used to hard cornering, adds an entirely new dimension to the experience. I would never have chosen a drop-top over a coupe if the S2000 had that option, but I’m delighted that I was “forced” into it.

as a former owner of an Elantra Touring can confirm a couple simple mods (tires, chassis braces, struts if you want) turns what is a very well balanced Econo-mobile into a serious fun-to-toss, legit-quick ride that pisses off the WRX bros hardcore at autocross.
