It’s a coilpack and it’s not good. It’s only misfiring for about the first 15 seconds the engine is running, then it recovers and runs normally.
Now the temperature around here has been fluctuating and we took the car on Christmas errands so it was turned on and off about 6 times in 3 hours, so it may not have liked that. At any rate, it means it is failing. So there’s another thing that will have to be done in the upcoming service which I am referring to as “the final solution” (get it, because it’s German). A several thousand dollar in parts alone tear down off the top end of the engine to replace the valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and now, it seems, the coilpacks. At least my mechanic is only gonna charge me the labor to get down there and back up again...

I’m always amazed at how much detail the computers can record faults for.

Ohhh snap. Would you still say that it’s worth it?

Cylinders 3 through 6 still good, now 4 cylinder car, good on gas

Uh oh. I think mine were replaced about 6-7000 miles ago. My abc light came on the other night, but I hit the cycle button and restarted the car and it went away. Also, the back right is sitting about an inch low, but there is no abc fault in the computer, so I think it’s a bad ride height sensor. Do you know if I have to pull the motor for mounts ?

Like that earlier post about a snapped off bolt, the car is becoming more efficient.

One word of caution - if it fails completely, you risk ruining your catalytic converter as unburned fuel gets pumped into the exhaust.
what ODBII software are you using btw? I’ve tried a couple, but nothing I was thrilled with.

I think that’s Torque for Android. The check engine light should start flashing to indicate a catalyst-damaging misfire. I had a car that needed a coil too. It started misfiring and flashed the light if you got on it but then went away when you just were driving.

Torque for Android, the paid version just to be safe. And I have the BAFX Products Bluetooth obd-II scanner. I’m shocked it can interface with a German car so well.

An inch...pssssssssh....mine sits all the way down on the tire if it sits long enough. Could be ride height sensor, but if it’s after your car shuts down the valve block is probably gunked up. If you can cycle the ride height and get it normal while running, it’s probably “fine.” If you’re losing fluid, WORRY.
As for motor mounts...I don’t know but the way that engine is shoehorned in there, I’d put my money on having to drop the front subframe at the very least.
I can’t afford this. I could afford it if the coilpack waited a couple months. I hope it doesn’t get worse. I’d hate to have to lay up the beast for a while.

To the moon and back, nothing could ever make me regret buying this car.

I think it's a sensor, bc it's always like that. Mine is going away once the snow falls, which will be s good time to fix the pse pump

I need to put some serious research into what the hell is wrong with my PSE system. The soft close is working and so are the locks, but my lumbar adjustments don’t work on any of the seats.

Sounds like a bad line then. But I don't have locks, doors, lumbar or trunks

Good to hear! I still really want one.

Do it ! I love mine. You just have to look for a good one with the big things (coil packs, engine mounts, ect.) done recently by a good shop. And I'd say that it's almost crucial to find one with full service records.

And driving it is like nothing else , effortless power at any speed, and stupid comfortable to boot. And if you do look for one, try to find one with the designo leather .
