Knox cars earned the nickname “old porcupine” from their air cooled engines which used cooling pins instead of fins. Supposedly, this was more effective than cooling fins.
Knox was not as prestigious or as long lived as that better known American maker of air cooled cars, Franklin. But they were older, and began preaching the benefits of air-cooling long before VW and Porsche arrived on the scene.
