If so, how does one recreate this shot? I would assume it requires multiple cameras, but if it doesn’t, I’d love to know how this was done, because it’s cool. It’s the one thing I’ve asked my parents for this Christmas, so hopefully I’ll have one to record my various snowmobile, car, and longboard related adventures with pretty soon.

It requires lots of camera... for a shot like this, probably around 10 to 15...

It's probably about 20 cameras on a curved bar and they just stitch all the individual videos together.

I seriously love that video so much. Most of the other Gymkhana videos are kinda just blah. The San Francisco one is just an epic adventure. But in regards to your question, these type of videos always get me amped up and wanting to make cool videos with a go pro, but really you have to keep in mind how many other cameras you would need. Plus a film crew, other more expensive cameras, and people that actually know a thing or two about editing. Just putting on a helmet cam and going about your business is fun and all, but keep in mind it wont come out like one of these lol.

If you want a static, rotating shot, you have to use multiple cameras as multiple people have pointed out.
If you just want to rotate the shot while the action is moving, a skate dolly will do.

That’s what I thought. So I bought a few GoPro cameras and a dirt bike. Turns out I suck at camera positioning and get a lot of footage of the ground. But I am learning the art of filmmaking. It is totally worth having for when you crash, everyone likes to see a good crash video.
