"fourvalleys" (fourvalleys)

It’s not even been three days since I put my Mini into winter storage, and I already miss it.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it wasn’t running for the past few weeks. Of course, there was snow and salt on the road and I wouldn’t have driven it anyway, but I took advantage of the few unseasonably warm days we’ve had to get it running again and put it into storage. At least it saved me a month’s worth of storage fees. But I just want to go for one more drive...
Also awesome: The reaction at the shop I’m storing it. “When you said ‘an old Mini’ I thought you meant like 2002 or 2003! We’ll make room for it in the showroom.”
See you in spring, friend.

Disclaimer: That photo is from storage last year. I changed to a new place this year after finding a much better deal. It’s not out in a barn anymore, and the security is much better. Plus, it’s heated!
And it turns out you can store a car at a place offering motorcycle storage, as long as it fits on the freight elevator.

I apologize in advance.
But I would prefer any other vehicle in that barn.
I’m a jerk today, feel free to ignore me.

Not bothered by that at all - it was by far the least valuable thing in that barn, too! Well, except maybe the early-90s F-250 that a guy spent like $15k to have repainted and then stored for the winter. Interesting.
Also, the coolest stuff isn’t even visible in that picture. Lots of power from a few sleepers lurking in the back (and some that went in after mine).

Actually, yes! And it’s even close by. They said I could rent time on one of their lifts if I wanted to work on it.

Ever dealt with British sheet metal? It rusts if you look at it wrong. No chance I’m putting it on the road when there’s salt down.

Haha, the F-250 thing sure is fascinating. 15k for a paint job is expensive. He must love that truck.

I will say, it’s a fantastic looking paint job. I can’t say I’d spend it on a truck that probably still isn’t worth that, but it looks showroom-new.

Shouldn’t a really nice paint job only be about 4-5k?

It hasn’t been in the rain or snow since I’ve owned it, and it’s been stored in a dry garage every single day and night. A couple of rust spots have still developed. It’s crazy.
