Kinja'd!!!

You have been loaned $21 billion dollars. All of it must be used for boring responsible adult stuff and covering your upcoming debts. None of it can be used for fun. You have 365 days to pay this loan back in full. How do you do it?

Since we're being responsible...what's the interest rate on said loan?

It would be extremely morally wrong and think anyone who does this should rot in hell. Buy a pharmaceutical company that has lots of life saving drug that only they make and if they charge $300 for it, make it $120,000. I mean if it means life or death, they’ll pay. At the end of the 21 days I would liquidate the company and get the money and more back. I would also rot in hell.

Put it in a CD for a year and keep the millions I earned in interest for all the fun things I want to do.

Buy a fleet of small-cap companies, preferably in stable areas like foodservice. So I could buy Buffalo Wild Wings (for instance) outright, and six other companies in diversified but similarly safe regions. Sell after a year for a modest profit, take the maybe 3% profit for myself and have enough money to live off of the interest for the rest of my life.

Sell Scania, blow most of it on hookers, blow and other executive perks. Leave the company 3 months before the bill comes do, let the next poor sucker deal with it.

Print a bunch of money that says “2nd Weimar Republic” on it, with pictures of Weimaraner dogs on them because everyone thinks they’re cute.

We’ll assume something similar to the current average for a mortgage; 3.88%

Note that this is still $21B, so the APY on this loan per is $814M. This is about €19B with a €750/year yield on the loan at these rates.

On a 5 year loan, V.A.G. would have to pay out €4.5B/year, or half their Margin. That can be cut in half to €2.6B/year if they agree to a 10 year loan instead. The problem is though, even a 2 year term is too long; cutting down your margin for such a prolonged length of time is basically asking shareholders to dump their stock. The losses there could be much greater than $21B over 5 or 10 or however many years.

The good news is that there is probably $21B somewhere in this organization to be found, and that they will likely be able to pay back the loan. The bad news is that might mean selling off one or more iconic properties of the brand before getting to that point.

Well shit that sounds like a ton of fun to me really. That would mean I could pay all of my student loans like today. That gives me like $700 a month more disposable income to use for fun things! The rest can be used for boring stuff like buying some land that I will totally swear is not for fun, a bunch of really shitty and boring cars, and then I will build a giant road with a bunch of turns that don't seem to efficiently go anywhere and end up going around to the start again.
