i’m talkin with my bro-in-law about getting the FJ60 as a project. neither of us have a garage so I came up with an easy shelter to work in. just some simple wood trusses with 4-4X6 posts connecting a couple triple 2X8 beams that could be used for lifting. I would wrap both the inside and the outside of the trusses with 6mil clear plastic which would keep the rain out and provide a air barrrier so we could put a space heater in there to keep us warm.

I’ve been thinking of something like that. We have 2 rv parking spaces, and no rv. One would be great for a shop with lift.

Yeah, mine would be a bit more. Looks like a solid design. Tyvek might be a solid covering choice too.

I’m hoping just your drawing is omitting the bracing to keep the whole thing from just tipping one way, and not your design. Otherwise, looks good, though if you get much snow you’ll want to at least throw some OSB on top (under your plastic) to support the weight.

Needs some bracing along the long axis, or else you’ll have a bad time.

i was going to keep the snow off it, yes there is lateral bracing missing.

Cool, seems like a good plan! Dirt floor, pea gravel, or going all-out and tripling (at least) your costs and pouring a slab?

Makes sense, plus when it gets covered in little bits of rust and such, you can take it outside, shake it off, and put it back (assuming you’re able to move the vehicle out at the time, otherwise I guess a broom is in order)

yea i’m just trying to keep it as low cost as possible. It will be directly next to my shed so i can store tools. I also thought I might need to get a permit for a slab where as I might be able to build something like this without a building permit
