Hey all, I’m looking for some good driving roads in the Toronto area (within an hour or two of the city) since I’ll be there for Christmas break and I really need to get out and drive, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

There’s some in the Caledon region, a bit far out, but I can get the exact location after school, I went there all the time with my mom (she knows where it is) when I had my G1.

Other than that, going downtown at night on a weekday or industrial areas at night are always fun.

All the good roads are just north of Los Santos in the mountains. I also enjoy driving down the PCH on the west at sunset in my Adder.

My favorite roads are in this area.

Specifically, I like the River Road from Hornings Mills, Prince of Wales Road up from Primrose, and if you include dirt:

Another favorite is the Forks of the Credit Road, though it has some speedbumps now. It’s about 85% as fun as it was before.

This one’s probably too far for you, but if you are ever around this area:

Then take Hwy 13 from Torrance to Washago.

As a general rule, though, you won't find many great driving roads around here. The terrain just isn't there. Most of the fun stuff is just small sections on otherwise boring roads. I've done my best to pick out some of the (to my mind) gems for you though :)

Go down Young at about 10 on a Friday around Young/Dundas Square for some scenery. AKA people being weird (read: hilarious drunk).

I like your suggestion up north. I’m very familiar with driving Twelve Mile Bay Road and the 5 into Honey Harbour. I’d love to do a trip up there, but it’s a pretty far drive.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, generally the roads around here are not that enjoyable because the terrain rarely calls for much beside straight roads with the odd bend around some obstacle. Good picks though, I live ~20 min from those first three, :)

I love cruising down the Gardiner/DVP at 2 am. The empty roads with lights through downtown combined with a bit of Kavinsky blasting on the stereo and you have a bit of heaven for me.

Smallbear posted some good suggestion in my neck of the woods. If you’re willing to go a bit further, Pretty River road near Collingwood is enjoyable. I wouldn’t drive there solely for that purpose but if you happen to be heading to Blue Mountain or something it’s a decent side trip.

I'm in Toronto myself. This time of year I don't have any reason to go that way unfortunately.

Yeah, not much to do up here sadly. Soon though the ski hills will be open and I’ll be driving up to Blue regularly, which gives an opportunity to take some nice scenic roads.
