I drove an absolutely mint 1966 Impala sedan for my last year in high school. It had a 195-horsepower 283 V8 and a 2-speed Powerglide transmission. She was a cruiser. It drove pretty well considering it was on cracking tires from the ‘70’s. I sold it to pay for college and eventually bought a second, teal, 1960’s sedan. i guess I have a thing for them.

It was the greatest. I payed $3,000 for it and it got 17 mpg the whole time I owned it. I used to fit myself and six friends into it and go to the movies. Also it was a great date car.

Bad ass

just $500 more than my Montego cost, and it got similar gas mileage before I made a few upgrades. Now I get very little gas mileage.

“Good date car” - dat bench seat haha

Looks nice. I’m not big fan of the Powerglide but otherwise I’m pretty envious that you had such nice one.

Bench seats and all that room in back? Heck, yeah great date car. A high schooler’s dream. My ‘73 Olds station wagon shared similar virtues.

So damn nice. My first car was going to be a blue ‘65 SS, but the folks split and the rest (as well as the car) is history. I loved sitting in that thing and pretending I was going somewhere as a kid.

Everyone should experience a power glide once
