Frankly I’m surprised he made it this long as much as he’s struggled with addiction.

One of my favorite STP tunes that feels quite fitting today

My front page goal today is to have STP lyrics in every single post. Wish me luck with my trite and cheesy tribute to an amazing musician.

Also, please text RIPSCOTT to Ash78 to donate $10 to my anti-heroin ice bucket challenge!

I’m two tracks deep. I forgot how good this record was.

I wanted to grab this CD and listed to it in the car today. I went to grab it, then remembered that my old roommate took it with him when he moved out in 2003.

I hope you listen to this today, Tom.

Just remember you have Velvet Revolver lyrics to fall back on too if you need more material.

Geez, it’s sad so many famous people are killing themselves with drugs. I guess i should be thankful for my car addiction.

I was lucky enough to see them play Purdue back in the 90s. Great band, but Scott’s drug abuse had its impact.

Well, you can always look them up, I guess. The main advantage is how really odd and cryptic they are - you don’t have to match them to a scenario very well as a response because they’re both opaque and vaguely menacing. Second verse and chorus of Slither:

When you seek me you destroy me
Rape my mind and smell the poppies
Born and bloodied every single time

Always keep me under finger
That’s the spot where you might linger
But I see some type of pleasure in my mind

Yeah, here comes the water
It comes to wash away the sins of you and I
This time you see
Like holy water
It only burns you faster than you’ll ever dry
This time with me

First verse of She Builds Quick Machines:

Hold fast, motor off
Come strong, let it roll
Ice cold desert stone
She build a quick train
Seems to keep her motor clean
Saw the visions and a wet machine
She’s always quick to fight
We’re breaking through tonight

And so on.

Yeah, I saw them way way back just after Core came out (they were opening for Megadeth - how early 90’s is that?), and the DeLeo brothers were awesome, but Scott’s voice? Damn. He could sing .
